CE-Marking SAB products
For more and more construction products European Norms are being developed. On the basis of these norms, the construction products industry has to comply with CE-marking. Once a certain norm has been approved by a majority of the EU member states, it is mandatory that a construction product manufacturer conforms itself to such a norm and thus to be CE-marked. To be able to reach this marking a number of tests have to be carried out. Test results have to be displayed, accompanied by a CE-logo, at either the product or at the packaging.
From 1st November 2007 profiled metal sheets and liner trays must be CE-marked. The requirements, which need to be fulfilled, are defined in the European Norm EN 14782. This norm applies to profiled metal sheets and liner strays for non-structural purposes for roofing, external cladding and internal lining of buildings.
Inspection on CE-markering needs to be done by the customer. In this case it is the responsibility of the principal and/or (sub)contractor to verify if the above mentioned products are actively provided with a CE-label.
On the CE-label information of the manufacturer and the used material are univocally mentioned, just like fire behaviour and, for roof application, the maximum span width at a concentrated force of 1,2 kN.
Furthermore the norm prescribes how the manufacturer must arrange its “Factory Production Control”. At SAB-profiel this internal production control is already into force, guaranteed by the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system.
Unfortunately this norm does not prescribe anything related to external product control. Therefore CE-marking can not be seen as a quality mark. Nevertheless SAB-profiel products are audited every six months, since the last decades, by an external and independent test institute. In this way product quality is guaranteed at its familiar high level.
